Social media is a dynamic tool for businesses. It’s a way to communicate with the public and build a following, but it can also be a time-consuming task. If you're new to social media marketing, you might not know where to start. To save you time and effort, we’ve put together some helpful tips so you can start your social media management journey on the right foot.

Branding

Social media marketing is one of the leading ways to grow your business. But if you want to succeed in social media, you need a cohesive and consistent branding strategy. Without it, you run the risk of confusing your audience and diluting your brand's voice. The key to social media marketing success is not just having a strategy but executing it well.

For example, a logo is the first thing you see when you visit a company's website or social media page. It can make all the difference in what users think of your business. It should be memorable yet timeless; unique yet professional. But above all, it should be legible and discernible from any size or distance. For this reason, brand packages created by JG are typically delivered with multiple formats, including vertical and horizontal versions of the logo files.

Optimization and Engagement

Social media has completely altered the way we do business. It's important to have a strong social media presence in order to stay relevant and competitive. Here are some ideas to improve optimization and engagement on your social media channels:

• Start by getting inspired! Search through popular hashtags to find topics that are relevant to your company or industry.

• Keep it short. Tweets with less than 30 characters are more likely to be retweeted.

• Let people know how they can get involved! Include a call-to-action at the end of every post to encourage engagement.

• Make it personal. Tell people why you think they should care about what you've posted.

• Make sure your business profile is complete and includes relevant information about your work.

• Find creative ways to post content that generates high engagement like infographics, contests, and quizzes.

• Join relevant groups on Facebook or LinkedIn to connect with other businesses in your industry.

• Invest in an email marketing service to create newsletters that are delivered straight to people's inboxes on a regular basis.

• Host videos of yourself on Youtube talking about the latest headlines in the industry.

• Use Instagram stories or Snapchat shows for behind-the-scenes looks at what your company is up to.

Consistency

Are the digital files you use high resolution? Are the colour codes consistent from piece to piece? If you printed the same material, would you be able to ensure that the colours match?

There are so many different platforms, and people use them in so many different ways that it can be overwhelming. But if you are consistent in your effort, winning is inevitable.

Social media is an excellent way to grow your customer base and increase your visibility. But it can also be a bit overwhelming to manage your company's accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and more. It may seem daunting, but whatever you do: keep at it! ν
