Building the province’s future workforce

Meet Junior Achievement Nova Scotia

Since 1969, Junior Achievement Nova Scotia (JA) has educated and empowered students to make thoughtful decisions about financial health, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. A member of the world’s largest youth-focused education organization, JA equips students from grades 3 to 12 with essential skills that directly support long-term economic growth and workforce development.

JA programs align with the Nova Scotia provincial curriculum, strengthening classroom learning through practical, real-world applications. Students explore budgeting, career pathways, entrepreneurship, and business fundamentals—gaining a clear sense of how their education connects to future goals, including employment. This curriculum alignment lets schools integrate JA programming seamlessly while enhancing student engagement.

A defining advantage is accessibility. All programs are provided at no cost to schools and students, ensuring equitable access across urban, rural, and remote communities. Programs run in-class and after school, with some engaging business professionals as volunteers who bring real-world experience and industry insight directly to students. These connections give youth a clearer picture of career possibilities within their own communities.

JA also extends its reach through the JA Canada Digital Campus, an online learning platform offering interactive modules in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career exploration. The platform allows students to learn at their own pace and supports blended and independent learning.

By investing in students early, JA builds a financially stable, confident, and skilled future workforce—one that will strengthen Nova Scotia’s businesses, communities, and economy for years to come.

Honouring Excellence: Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame

The Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame celebrates the province’s most accomplished business leaders, recognizing those whose vision, leadership, and dedication have had a lasting impact on Nova Scotia’s economy and communities. Each year, an esteemed group of Laureates is inducted to honour their lifetime achievements and enduring influence on industries and future generations.

The Hall of Fame also introduced the Legacy in the Making Award, which recognizes emerging business leaders who demonstrate exceptional promise, innovation, and leadership early in their careers—reflecting a commitment to celebrating both legacy and the future of business excellence in Nova Scotia.

These achievements are celebrated at the annual Business Hall of Fame Gala, JA’s premier fundraising event. The evening brings together business leaders, community members, and JA participants for a night of recognition and connection. Proceeds support JA Nova Scotia, empowering the next generation with the skills to succeed. Visit nsbusinesshalloffame.ca to learn more.
