Halifax Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New President & CEO, Don Bureaux
Halifax, NS (March 3, 2026) – The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Don Bureaux as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, March 2.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we are pleased to welcome Don Bureaux as President and CEO of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce,” said Joanne Bernard, Chair of the Halifax Chamber’s Board of Directors and CEO of Easter Seals Nova Scotia. “Don brings a strong record of leadership and collaboration, along with a deep understanding of Nova Scotia’s economic landscape. At a time when businesses are navigating both opportunity and uncertainty, his experience will guide the chamber as we continue to advocate for our members and strengthen Halifax’s competitiveness.”
Bureaux joins the Chamber with more than two decades of leadership experience across business and education. Most recently, he served as President of the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) for 15 years, where he led 14 campuses and strengthened partnerships with employers, governments and communities across the province and advanced initiatives supporting workforce development and economic growth.
“As I begin this new role with the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, I do so with a strong sense of responsibility to our members and to the business community we serve,” said Don Bureaux. “The Chamber has built a strong and respected reputation within the business community. In the weeks ahead, I look forward to meeting with members, listening to their priorities, and working alongside government, partners and stakeholders to support economic growth and sustainability in Halifax and across Nova Scotia.”
Earlier in his career, Bureaux held roles with KPMG and worked as a business owner and advisor, supporting companies in building their workforce and organizational capacity. He holds an MBA and a CPA designation.
As President and CEO, Bureaux’s priorities include building on the Chamber’s strong foundation, elevating its influence and reputation and ensuring Halifax continues to have an influential, credible and sought-after voice at decision-making tables.
