Halifax Chamber of Commerce Appoints Don Bureaux as Next President and CEO
(Halifax, NS) September 9th, 2025 –The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Bureaux as its next President and Chief Executive Officer.
Bureaux, who has served as President of Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) for the past 15 years, will officially begin his new role with the Chamber in six months. Until that time, Patrick Sullivan will continue to serve as President and CEO, ensuring stability and continuity for members and stakeholders.
A Proven Leader for a Pivotal Moment
During his tenure at NSCC, Bureaux helped transform the institution into a trusted partner for employers, governments, and communities across Nova Scotia. Under his leadership, the College became recognized for its innovation, responsiveness to labour market needs, and its role in driving social and economic progress. By working at the intersection of education, workforce development, and business, Bureaux has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Nova Scotia’s economy.
Bureaux also brings significant experience in business and entrepreneurship. Earlier in his career, he held several roles with KPMG. Next, upon leaving public practice Don worked as a business owner and advisor, helping companies of all sizes, from start-ups to multinational firms, build their workforce, strengthen organizational cultures, and grow sustainably. Don is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA) and holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University Scotland. He was awarded Top 50 CEO by Atlantic Business Magazine for five consecutive years, earning him a place in the Atlantic Canadian CEO Hall of Fame.
As Chamber President and CEO, he will champion the needs of members, strengthen Halifax’s position as a hub for business, and ensure the Chamber remains a credible and sought-after voice at policy and decision-making tables.
