It is an incredibly special year for the Halifax Business Awards. First, it is a year to acknowledge astounding growth in our community. Our province recently crossed a momentous landmark, with over one million residents now calling Nova Scotia home. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy, and they have played an essential role in strengthening and expanding our community. It is our sincere pleasure to recognize their work at the Awards this year.

Secondly, after two difficult years, it is more important than ever to celebrate our vibrant business community. Our finalists have not only persisted during these challenging times — they have flourished, thanks to their unfailing dedication and inspiring ingenuity. On behalf of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, I want to offer the 2022 Halifax Business Awards Finalists an enthusiastic and well-deserved congratulations!

It was also a year that garnered a record-breaking number of Awards submissions — we received more than 500 nominations! Thank you to the many extraordinary businesses who took the time to apply. Our judges, as always, had their work cut out for them. This year’s finalists are a selection of the remarkable businesses in Halifax, and we know there so many more still to highlight.

Finally, we are delighted to introduce you to our most diverse group of finalists in Awards history. For 2022, our team made a tremendous amount of effort to make our awards more inclusive. They represent a wide variety of business leaders in different industries, from all walks of life — including our youngest ever finalist! I want to thank our team for their outreach to the many communities that make Halifax home. We know the work is not over; we plan to expand these new connections and partnerships in years to come.

We look forward to celebrating with you in 2022.
