Happy New Year Chamber members! It’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through January already.

Did you make any resolutions for 2014 for your business? Chances are at least one of the below resolutions is on your list – and the Chamber can help!

  1. Do more networking
  2. Build my brand
  3. Find ways to save $
  4. Invest in training for myself and/or my employees
  5. Get involved in my community

Check out how we can help you with the first two resolutions below – and be sure to check back in the next two days for information on how we can help with the rest!

Resolution 1: Do more networking

The Chamber offers over 100 events per year, in a variety of styles, times and price points. Check out our Calendar of Events to see what’s coming up. Not sure what events would be best for you to attend? Contact us and tell us your needs, and we’ll be happy to match you to the events that will work for you.

Don’t have time to actually get out and network? While we’d love to be able to offer “more hours in the day” as a member benefit, unfortunately that’s not in our power. (We’re good, but we’re not that good!) However, we do have networking opportunities you can do from your office chair (or your couch!). Our most active virtual network is on Twitter, where we have over 6500 followers. Check us out @halifaxchamber  – follow us and we’ll follow you back, and we’ll share your member news and events too! We also have a Facebook page as well as a LinkedIn Group where you can share your news and events, as well as start discussions with your fellow members.

Resolution 2: Build my brand

The Chamber has lots of ways we can help you build your company’s brand, or even your personal brand! Here are a few ideas:

  • Write a guest post for the Chamber’s blog or submit an article for print in the Trends section of Business Voice magazine. This will help to brand you and your company as an expert in your field.
  • Purchase an enhanced listing in the Chamber’s e-directory. This allows you to place your logo and/or a short description of your company on your listing.
  • Place an offer in the M2M Marketplace. This allows you to place your logo, company description, and special offer on our website and in the e-directory, and will help to drive your fellow members to your business.
  • Participate in discussions on our Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
  • Get out and network! Hand out your business card and allow people to “put a face to a name” as you chat at a Chamber event.

Stay tuned tomorrow and Wednesday for resolutions 3, 4 and 5!
